SMW Foundation
Scholarships

Stephanie believed in the importance of education, and the SMW Foundation is honored to award scholarships at both the high school and collegiate levels to students at the institutions that were important to Stephanie: Wilmington High School (Wilmington, MA), Brick Gateway Academy (Newark, NJ) and Drew University (Madison, NJ).

Recipients of these scholarships at Wilmington High School and Gateway Academy are students whose interests, passions and educational goals align with Stephanie's. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,000.

The SMW Foundation has established the Stephanie Weymouth Memorial Scholarship at Drew University; $25,000 over the next five years (from year 2025-2030). These (5) $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to student/s whose course of study incorporates art, music, education and/or theatre and whose on-campus pursuits align with the SMW Foundation's mission statement.

We are very blessed and honored to be able to partner with these institutions in this way, and we wish all of the recipients of these scholarships the best in their endeavors!

2025 Scholarships
(The SMW Foundation awarded $9,000 in scholarships in 2025)

BRICK Gateway Academy Graduation (June 12, 2025)
Although we were not able to be there in person, the SMW Foundation is once again thrilled and honored to continue supporting the students at Gateway Academy in Newark, NJ. This school and the people in it meant so much to Stephanie, and she poured so much of her heart and legacy into the students. We are so proud and grateful to once again grant scholarships to two graduating seniors who exemplify Stephanie's life's mission of being a good human and doing good in the world. The SMW Foundation would like to wish the best of luck to Amirah and Lazey'us, each of whom received a $1,000 scholarship on behalf of the Foundation. We pray that you shine light and goodness wherever your future takes you!

Wilmington High School Scholarship Night (May 30, 2025)
Glenn and Nancy represented the SMW Charitable Foundation at Wilmington High School's scholarship night on May 30th, 2025. This year we asked each applicant to write a brief essay about how the arts have influenced their life, as well as about a time that they had witnessed human compassion. We really enjoyed reading each essay, and we feel so blessed to have been able to award (2) $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors, James and Dean. We wish you both the best of luck in your next chapter; always remember to "do the work" and "be the light".
Stephanie Weymouth Memorial Scholarship (May, 2025)
The SMW Charitable Foundation presented Drew University with the first $5,000 installment of the $25,000 memorial scholarship. This scholarship will be used as financial aid for a student determined by the University, and we feel blessed beyond measure to be able to continue Stephanie's legacy at her college alma mater.

2024 Scholarships
(The SMW Foundation awarded $6,200 in scholarships in 2024)

Gateway Academy Graduation (June, 2024)
The SMW Foundation had the honor of presenting each of Stephanie's council students with their high school diploma and a college scholarship. These are the 13 young women who Steph had mentored since they were high school freshman. Stephanie would have read their names as they walked across the stage to receive their diplomas, so this was a very emotional day as we carried out the task. We know Stephanie would be so proud; 11 of her students continued on to college, and 2 enrolled in trade school.
Wilmington High School Scholarship Night (May 31, 2024)
We had the privilege and blessing of awarding the first ever scholarship in Stephanie's name to a high school senior from Stephanie's high school, Adrienne. The SMW Charitable Foundation wanted to highlight one student who personifies Steph's spirit and interests, and Adrienne embodied just that. Adrienne, may you always continue to "be the good, and do the work".
